Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a day in which, you guessed it, us privileged types are encouraged to give just a little to those in need. It’s a welcome response to the consumerist horror that is Black Friday.
Spelling and grammar correction tool Grammarly is asking for people to join them in tackling illiteracy, by donating to such charities as Reading Is Fundamental, First Book and ProLiteracy.
I briefly volunteered in a class helping adults with dyslexia, and saw first-hand how just a small improvement in basic literacy can boost happiness, confidence and job prospects. In fact, I’d say it was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
